Caring through life’s transitions

There are certain moments in life when clothing becomes more than just something we wear.

A wedding gown represents hope for the future.

A carefully pressed suit becomes part of a first job interview.

A favorite sweater carries memories of someone we love.

A tiny christening gown may have been worn by generations of the same family.

And sometimes, the dress or suit we bring to our cleaners is for one of the hardest days we'll ever face—a funeral for someone who mattered deeply.

At Great Lakes Clothing & Gown Care, we have the privilege of caring for garments that are woven into life's biggest transitions. Most days, we aren't simply removing stains or pressing wrinkles. We're helping people prepare for moments they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

That's one of the reasons our team adopted the phrase:

We care for what matters.

It reminds us that while garments are important, people are always more important.

This Month's Community Focus

Each month, our Community & Care Team chooses a local organization to highlight through our Blessing Fund.

This August, we're honored to support Hospice of Holland.

On August 15, Hospice will host the VanderLeek Cup Hospice Regatta, an event that helps provide compassionate care for individuals and families navigating one of life's most difficult transitions.

As part of our support, Great Lakes Clothing & Gown Care has donated two $100 gift certificates to the Regatta auction. Throughout the month, our team will also be looking for additional ways to encourage the people who care so faithfully for others.

Hospice reminds us that dignity, kindness, and compassion matter at every stage of life.

Every Visit Makes a Difference

One of our favorite things about the Blessing Fund is that our customers become part of it without having to do anything extra.

Every time you trust us with your clothing or wedding gown, you're helping us invest back into our community.

Whether we're supporting a local nonprofit, encouraging another small business, or surprising someone with an unexpected act of kindness, your business allows us to extend care beyond our front doors.

Thank you for being part of that story.

Tami's Tips

Clean Special Garments Sooner Rather Than Later

Many stains are invisible when they first happen. Perspiration, champagne, cake frosting, and clear beverages can slowly oxidize and become darker over time. The sooner special garments are professionally cleaned, the better the chances of completely removing those stains.

Plastic Isn't Forever

Those clear plastic garment bags are perfect for transporting clothing home—but they're not intended for long-term storage. If you're storing a wedding gown, heirloom garment, or favorite formalwear, choose a breathable fabric garment bag to help protect it for years to come.

Thank You

Whether you're bringing us everyday work clothes, a treasured heirloom, or the gown you wore on one of the happiest days of your life, thank you for trusting us.

Every garment has a story.

Every customer matters.

And every opportunity to care—for people, our community, and the things that matter most—is a privilege we never want to take for granted.

Thank you for allowing us to care for what matters.
